The Hide-and-Seek Children: Recollections of Jewish Survivors from Slovakia

by Barbara Barnett, maps by Martin Gilbert.

on Wednesday 1st May 2013 from 6 pm

at The Royal Dublin Society

Dr Solomon Schonfeld was an extraordinary English Rabbi with a inspired mission to protect child survivors of the Nazi atrocities.  In 1948 he arrived in Slovakia, just before the Communist regime took power and banned religious groups.  He came back with 141 children.  Most of them spent a year at Clonyn Castle in the Republic of Ireland where they recovered from their traumas and learnt about their Jewish heritage.
